All Your Bass #25: Over And Out

This is the last show for a while. I'm gonna take a break. Maybe just until April or so, maybe longer. So you guys are gonna have to get your awesome music somewhere else for a while, sorry.

This show featured Biz Markie and Edan (like most of my shows, I've noticed), Saukrates, Madvillain, Anonymous Twist, Common Market, the Coup, plus more. Big ups to Vanilla Ice, who just squirted out another album in November, this time of hip hop covers. Do yourself a google search and find some 30 second samples somewhere, it's really eye-opening. I recommend 'Insane in the Membrane' (Cypress Hill) and 'Buffalo Soldier' (Bob Marley) especially.



Hey, did you notice the resemblance between Vanilla Ice and Max Headroom? I wonder if that's just a coincidence.

All Your Bass #23: KCR Membership Drive

Had Ben Fox & Chris Brach with me in the studio for this show. Ben brought a few of his many, many records. Chris Brach moves in the shadows like the ninja. We talked some hip hop etc, but mostly played records for your listening enjoyment. KRS-One, another superb Ice Cube track, Naughty by Nature, Tribe, AZ, Heiroglyphics, Akinyele... and more of course. Take my advice: download this show at your earliest convenience and burn it onto a cd. Listen to it in your car at high volume with the bass frequencies especially emphasized. Members of whatever gender you find yourself attracted to will come a-running, I guarantee it.

Cheralynne was the unwitting selektah for some of this show: Atmosphere, Classified, Talib Kweli, Abdominal, etc. Also we heard a Laurie Anderson track, Ohmega Watts, Madvillain, Chubb Rock, the Pharcyde, Ice Cube, etc etc. Also a rap about the biggest particle accelerator ever, the LHC (Large Hadron Collider), which could possibly spell doom for planet Earth.

yeah, so we were up at Shambhala on the weekend. It was pretty neat, as you might imagine. So me and Blaker put together this set that's loosely based on or inspired by stuff that we heard up there. Drive If You Must from Nelson, Gift of Gab & Lateef, Groove Armada, uh DJ Kentaro, Galactic, Neighbour of Homebreakin Records (dope!), One Self, Del & Aesop Rock, Bassnectar... and, of course, more.
